To help Argentine families adapt to the challenges of virtual learning this fall, Youthfront and The Hub @ Metropolitan Avenue UMC are launching learning pods. We will support small groups of middle school students and their elementary school siblings to safely gather for socialization, recreation, projects and tutoring while doing their remote learning.
Learning pods are small groups of around 10 students that meet twice a week for 2 hours after school. Activities will include games, art, service, learning support, and spiritual and emotional check-in. Students can also meet for an optional homework help session designated for their pod during school hours. Middle school students will be in a learning pod separate from their elementary school siblings who will simultaneously be in their own learning pod. Students may request to be placed in a learning pod with their friends.
Each pod will be led by 2 adult volunteers who have completed background checks and child protection training. COVID-19 safety protocols will be strictly followed. The cost for each family is $5 per week.
Applications are available at Snack Shack KC. Specific pod times and locations can be found on our application. Learning pods will begin the week of September 28. Spots will fill quickly, so complete your application as soon as possible. Filling out an application does not guarantee a spot in a learning pod.
Sample Schedule:
4:00 Socialization and Games
4:15 Recreation, art, workshops, or service
5:00 Learning Support
5:30 Break

We are excited to gather safely in order to help meet the social, emotional, and academic needs of our families.
